A Slow and Beautiful Tradition: The Story Behind My Porcelain Advent Wreaths
As the days grow shorter and we trade open windows for soft blankets and candlelight, I find myself craving slower moments, rituals that remind me to pause and savour the season.
For many families, one of those rituals is lighting candles during Advent, one each Sunday in the weeks leading up to Christmas. It’s a centuries-old European tradition that marks the turning of the year: the gradual return of light in the darkest month.

Evergreen wreaths and candles were symbols of hope and renewal during the darkest days of winter. While it’s most often observed in Christian households, today it’s become a beautiful ritual for anyone who wants to pause, gather, and create moments of light and calm during the busy holiday season.
My Advent Wreaths were born out of that same spirit, a way to slow down, reconnect, and bring something timeless and handmade into your home. Each one is handcrafted from bright white porcelain clay, smooth, luminous, and minimal. When the candles are lit, the porcelain glows softly, reflecting light in the most gentle way.

They’re designed to last for generations, timeless heirlooms you can restyle year-round. In December, they shine with evergreens and candlelight; in spring, they hold pansies or wildflowers. With a simple change of foliage they transform your home in keeping with the changing seasons. Fill the trough with water to keep living foliage fresh or use dried flowers.

Whether you observe the Advent tradition or simply love the idea of a glowing centrepiece for dark winter nights, these wreaths are meant to be part of your slow, beautiful season.
For me, creating them is about more than clay and glaze. It’s about bringing beauty into slow moments, around a table, beside a window, or at the heart of a family tradition.
